Copying a professional player's sensitivity (e.g. TenZ or s1mple) is a common starting point, but it is rarely the optimal final destination. Pro players have unique biological reaction speeds, proprietary hardware setups, and years of specialized muscle memory. You can compare these settings on ProSettings.net's player lists.
Finding your Natural Velocity involves identifying your "Sensitivity Archetype." Someone with a very limited desk space physically cannot use a low-sens pro setting without constant impact with their keyboard. Conversely, a high-precision player on a 1200 eDPI setting will find themselves over-shooting micro-adjustments due to the high angular speed. Calculate your current baseline on our eDPI calculator.
Setup Constraint Analysis
Before deciding on a number, audit your environment. Is your mouse cable snagging? Is your monitor close enough for you to see small target corrections? These physical factors often determine whether you belong in the "High-Wrist" or "Low-Arm" category.
The Rule of 180:
Ideally, a single natural swipe from the center of your pad to the edge should result in exactly a 180-degree turn in-game. If you hit the edge before turning 180, your eDPI is too low. If you turn 360+, it is likely too high for consistency. Use our cm/360 rotation rules for a physical audit.

Biometric Calibration Factors
1. Static vs Dynamic Friction
If your hand feels "heavy" during small movements, you have high static friction. Finding a higher eDPI will help you break that friction without needing to apply excessive force, which preserves your micro-aim accuracy.
2. FOV Interaction
Players use wider Field of View (e.g. 110 FOV) often prefer a higher eDPI. This is because targets at the edge of the screen appear more compressed, and a faster rotation speed feels more natural for target switching across large arcs.
3. Hardware Weight
Ultralight mice (under 60g) allow for high sensitivity with less "momentum" penalty. If you use a heavy legacy mouse (over 100g), you should aim for a lower eDPI range to avoid 'drifting' past your targets due to weight inertia.
